Stewart Mackinnon

Stewart Mackinnon was CEO of Headline Pictures until spring 2019. He studied Film at the Royal College of Art and then worked as a director and producer in London before moving to Newcastle to set up a studio and award-winning production company, where he produced over 30 award winning dramas and documentaries including the Grierson Award winning Miners Campaign Tapes.

Stewart has worked for all the UK broadcasters and a number of major independent production companies. His film THIS LITTLE LIFE won two BAFTAs, and multiple awards across the globe. Stewart's film QUARTET, directed by Dustin Hoffman, was released worldwide in 2012 and THE INVISIBLE WOMAN, directed by Ralph Fiennes, was released in the US and UK in 2013/2014. Headline Pictures' 6-part Prix Italia-winning series THE HEAVY WATER WAR was broadcast on NRK and More4 to critical acclaim in 2015. The 10-part returning series THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, based on Philip K Dick's original novel, is currently completing its fourth season for Amazon Studios, and the International EMMY-winning TV movie PETER & WENDY: Based on the novel Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie, scripted by BAFTA winner Adrian Hodges, was broadcast on ITV over Christmas 2015.
